Making An Office From Your Attic Space

Posted by myarticlenetwork on September 30, 2010

Turning your loft into an office can be a very wise move. If you want to work from home then this often under utilised area of the home may be the perfect location for it. So the tips below should help those who want to make their loft into an office.

- The first thing you need to decide is whether or not an office is something that you really need. The expense and hassle of getting an attic converted should only be done if you are going to be getting some benefits from it. Unless you begin using this room for the purpose you intended using it for, you could find that you just end up using it as a storage space again. You will have wasted time and money.

- You need to make sure that there will be enough room in your attic for a home office. This is very important for those who want to spend quite a bit of time up there. Your health can be negatively affected by working in cramped spaces.

- You may want to think about getting a sky light put in because natural light is very important in an office. If you cannot get this done then you need to install artificial lighting so that your office is bright enough.

- On your initial check of your attic space, it would be a good idea to check out whether there are any signs of instability. If your attic is a stable area already it will make the conversion a whole lot easier. Some attics just won’t be appropriate as an office space.

So there you have just a few ideas about how to turn you loft into a home office. As long as you think carefully beforehand, you can get a lot of benefit from doing this.

Those individuals that own homes that have rather spacious attics know that they have a great chance to extend open to them. And when we say this we very obviously mean loft conversion. Getting that extra space is now as easy as ever.

What Hidden Treasures Are Up In Your Attic

Posted by myarticlenetwork on August 25, 2010

If your attic is anything like mine it probably contains years of accumulated junk; at least that is the way I used to think about it. I have lived in my house for over forty years and have raised my family there. I was still in my early twenties when we moved to this house all thouse years ago. And in all those years here, we have used the attic to store things. The fact that for all these years I have just kept on putting more and more things up in the attic, means that now it is almost impossible for anyone to even get up there.

For years now, my wife has been nagging me to get the attic sorted out. I have always put this off because it seems like such a hard task. However I finally decided to bite the bullet last Sunday and headed up there and I am happy that I did. Instead of it being a nightmare job to get the attic sorted, it turned out to be a really pleasant experience. The attic was full of wonderful memories and not jam packed with rubbish which I was expecting. It felt like meeting up with old friends again as I picked through my old possessions and memories of special moments in my life came flooding back to me.

After spending the entire day going through all the stuff up there I found that there wasn’t much I was prepared to throw away. I actually started bringing much of this stuff back downstairs again much to my wife’s dismay. I don’t think she really minds though because she was obviously pleased to see many of these old things again. I would urge anyone who hasn’t done so in a while to take a walk in the memory lane of their attic.

People that have properties with large attics know they have a great opportunity open to them. And when we say this we very obviously mean loft conversions. Creating extra space has never been easier.
