Benidorm is to British summertime as Wembley stadium is to the nation’s football heritage. The destination has been a permanent fixture of holiday life for the past 40 years and is still going strong. From decent three-star hotels to popular five star resorts there are a wide choice of Benidorm hotels. Offering visitors all their home comforts from fried breakfasts to fish and chips there are definite benefits to holidaying in a destination that has built its name up around British tourism. That means those travelling from the UK never feel too far away from home, unless of course you count the plentiful Mediterranean sunshine.

The dizzying delights of Terra Mitica are perfect for thrill-seeking travellers and the park is considered to be one of the best in Spain, it’s a pity that it hasn’t yet achieved the same level of recognition as Port Aventura in the northern Costa Dorada. Terra Mitica features different themed zones but holidaymakers will find the best rides in Iberia, Greece and Rome, which seems a fitting tribute to the most popular destinations in the Mediterranean.

The newest rollercoasters in the park are definitely among the best in the world, particularly Inferno which uses cutting edge technology. The ride travels along a track with enough loops to be scary without the fact the riders seating blocks spin as the G forces take hold, enhancing them to create a unique experience. Magnus Colossus, situated in Terra Mitica’s Rome area is one of the largest and fastest wooden rollercoasters in Europe.

Because Benidorm has cheap hotels in abundance the nearby attractions can be heaving in the high season. Holidaymakers who prefer to escape the heat by travelling to a waterpark should visit Aqualandia from their hotels in Benidorm, the park has some fantastic large and thrilling slides like the Kamikaze and the Black Hole.
